Project Description
1. Legends : The Karavira Mahatmya states that Vishnu resides in the form of Mahalakshmi at Kolhapur. Legend has it that Kolhasura, a demon that tormented the Gods and other beings, was destroyed by Mahalakshmi here at Karavira, and that the spot of his death became a thirtha and that she took abode here in a shrine which constitutes the temple today. Kolhapur is having a history of more than 2000 years.
2. The Cultural Hub of Maharashtra:
Kolhapur, the land of magnificent temples, is the religious pride of Maharashtra. Nested in the tranquil laps of the Sahyadri mountain ranges, it is situated on the banks of the river Panchganga.Founded by Chhatrapati Tarabai, this princely state flourished under the reign of Chhatrapati’s of Kolhapur, especially under the legendry Rajarshi Shahu Chhatrapati Maharaj and Rajaram Chhatrapati Maharaj who set a vision and laid the foundation of modern Kolhapur.Education has always been in the forefront with one dream project of late Shri Rajivji. 3.Establishment:Location of School:
Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya at Kagal, a historical place, in the district of Kolhapur was established in 1993. Kolhapur is bounded in the east, west, and north by Sangli, Sindhudurg, and Satara districts of Maharashtra respectively. In the south, it touches the boundary of the district of Belgaum of the state of Karnataka. Kolhapur is situated at a distance of about 250 kilometers from Pune, a metropolis in Maharashtra.
